Air Pollution
All staff on construction sites are required to fully
understand air pollution regulations. Stationary pollution
sources are required to comply with emission standards. No
open burning, material transportation, or other operations
producing particulate pollutants are allowed on construction
sites. In the event of leakage of large amounts of air
pollutants or toxic gases, the site manager shall conduct
emergency response measures and notify local authorities
within the time limit prescribed by law. For inevitably polluting
operations, including short emissions during construction
or commissioning, which may affect the quality of life of
residents in proximity and impact the environment, CTCI
notifies the residents in advance on the time and situation of
the emissions.
Construction site air pollution prevention measures
Item
Measures
Purpose
Land leveling and
excavation operations
● Formulating work plan in advance to minimize exposed land, back-
fill quickly, pave, plant vegetation, and clean soil pollution Taking
pollution prevention measures
● Daily sprinkling
● Sprinkling using temporary automatic sprinkling systems or manual
sprinkling
● Avoiding secondary pollution from mud resulting from over-
sprinkling
● Water supply and cost are taken into consideration for the
sprinkling plan.
● Covering soil mounds with dust gauzes
Preventing dusting and protecting air
quality
Material and soil
stacking
● Setting up fences for stacking
● Sprinkling to maintain moisture or covering with canvas when
stacking in exposed or windy conditions
● Waste soil is shipped to qualified disposal grounds, landfills, or
processing grounds.
Preventing dusting and protecting air
quality
Sand blasting
operation
● Carried out in protection-equipped indoor conditions on principle
● Sand on the sand blasting grounds is swept or sprinkled upon.
● Protective equipment include sprinklers, ventilation, and particulate
control, with bag type dust collectors installed when necessary.
Preventing air pollution and impact on
health
Spray paint, paint,
and solvents
● Operated in indoor environments with control equipment
● Not allowed to operate under unstable weather conditions
● Installing ventilation and washing (using water or otherwise)
equipment downwind of the operating location
Preventing effusion of VOCs and impact
to health
Vehicular
transportation and
cleaning
● Vehicles transporting construction materials or particulate waste
are covered with canvas or other non-permeable material.
● All vehicles and machinery must be hosed down in the washing
pool before leaving construction sites to ensure cleanliness.
● After loading, truck beds must be covered with tarpaulin and
sealed.
● When driving through a construction site, vehicles must follow
construction site rules and the instructions of construction site
managers.
Preventing blowing dust and dust fall
Open burning
● No burning is allowed.
